Tinta Roriz highlights the challenge of winemaking and human persistence in preserving an old and authentic Douro. Starting with nervous flowering, involving extreme sensitivity to biological factors, and advancing to phenolic maturation that is not always homogeneous, this grape variety leaves the entire winemaking team with “butterflies in the stomach”. Never giving in to the banalism of an ordinary cultivation of the wine, in the vineyard there is always a special look at a small and old plot of Tinta Roriz (1.46 ha), located next to the chapel, overlooking the Douro River, at an altitude of 100m and with solar exposure to the east-west . The austerity of the grape variety is evident in the mouth. At the same time, we are seduced by a somewhat contemporary sophistication that, together with old vineyards, originates a blend that is a key reference in the Portugal’s Douro region: a wine that has rich minerality, blue fruits, rich spicy notes, a very firm structure and a very narrow mouth. The high concentration, density and depth perfectly reflects its origin. This wine results from the 2008 vintage and is the true reference of the Tinta Roriz grape variety from the Douro.
